An adverse effect, also known as an adverse event, is an undesirable or unexpected response to a medication, treatment, or other medical intervention. Adverse effects can range from mild to severe and can occur immediately or over a longer period of time.

Examples of adverse effects may include nausea, headache, dizziness, allergic reactions, organ damage, or even death.
