« Back to Glossary Index

A non-inferiority study is a type of clinical trial that is designed to demonstrate that a new intervention or treatment is not inferior to an existing standard of care treatment by a predetermined non-inferiority margin. The non-inferiority margin is the maximum amount of difference between the new treatment and the existing treatment that is considered acceptable or clinically meaningful.
