Unintended negative features or consequences of an option. These can be temporary or permanent, major or minor. Descriptions of harms and side effects should include how severe the negative effect will be, how long it might last, and how often someone can expect to experience the negative effect. An example of harm is the development of breast cancer from taking estrogen and progesterone. An example of a side effect is upset stomach from taking an antibiotic pill.
