Patient-Oriented Research

a continuum of research that actively engages patients as partners throughout the research process. It focuses on patient-identified priorities and aims to generate knowledge that directly improves patient outcomes. Conducted by multidisciplinary teams in collaboration with key stakeholders (such as healthcare providers, policy makers, and community representatives), this approach seeks to apply findings to enhance healthcare systems and practices. In some contexts, POR also includes people who bring the collective voice of specific affected communities (e.g., individuals living with diabetes).
